Capacity Building

This programmes aims at contributing to the multiplication of knowledge and skills relevant to the transformation of conflict and post conflict settings in Africa. These trainings focus on:
The programme has trained practitioners drawn from local organizations, international agencies and selected United Nations offices. Countries represented in the trainings include the Central Africa Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Tanzania.

Transformative Leadership and Governance

This programme aims at building capacities of women in areas of political and peacebuilding leadership so that they can effectively represent their interests at the highest levels. Targeted women are those who live in areas that are highly patriarchal, conflict affected and marginalized. Women in these areas are faced by many capacity challenges and their chances in leadership are slim. A lot of focus is given to young upcoming women leaders.

The programme carries out capacity building trainings focusing on governance, peacebuilding, lobbying, advocacy and leadership. Ultimately, through this programme, CGPG-Africa hopes to consolidate a group of young women who are well placed to undertake governance and peacebuilding processes in their communities and in their countries in ways that amplify women voices and contributions.

Through these efforts, the programme hopes to contribute to the lifting of women profiles beyond their communities and into country, regional and international levels.

Women Human Rights

This programme raises awareness of women human rights that are stipulated in various International Instruments and domesticated at country level. Instruments of focus include the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Violence Against Women (CEDAW), United Nations Resolution Council 1325 & 1822 and Acts that speak against gender based violence. Target groups are organizations running gender empowerment projects, women groups and local communities.

Its focus is in areas that are likely to experience human rights abuses e.g. low priorities on opportunities focusing on girls/women education, property ownership, livelihood support and participation in peacebuilding processes.

Women Economic Empowerment

This programme seeks to improve on economic and livelihood enhancement for women in marginalized areas either due to violence, under-development or rigid patriarchal structures. It provides trainings on entrepreneurship and business start-ups, psycho social support to victims of gender based violence. It targets women from economically marginalized zones and those living in conflict affected areas.
