Training in Peacebuilding Programming in Post Conflict settings in Africa; 4th to 8th December 2023, Nairobi-Kenya & Online

In the year 2021 and 2022, this training drew participants from local organizations, international agencies and selected United Nations offices. Countries represented include the Central Africa Republic, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ethiopia, Kenya, Mali, Mozambique, Nigeria, Rwanda, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Tanzania.

Key areas of Focus in the Training;  

  1. Exploration of some of the post conflict contexts in selected countries in Africa depending on where participants will be drawn from
  2. Exploration of tools of analysis relevant for post conflict settings
  3. Developing post conflict peacebuilding plans: Designing short and long term peacebuilding interventions at regional, national and community levels
  4. Exploration of what peacebuilding and conflict transformation entails in a post-conflict setting
  5. The African Union Post Conflict Reconstruction and Development Policy Framework(2006) and its relevance to the continent’s peacebuilding programming
  6. Understanding cycles of violence using the healing centred approaches to peacebuilding
  7. Gender in post conflict settings: Using the United Nations Security Council Resolution (UNSCR) 1325 to engender peacebuilding work

What participants will get from the training

  1.  A more informed view of various post conflict scenarios in a number of countries in Africa (based on where training participants will be drawn from)
  2. Tools for real time conflict analysis in post conflict contexts
  3. Short and long term peacebuilding programming options for post conflict settings
  4. A more informed understanding of what peacebuilding and conflict transformation entails in post conflict settings
  5. A better understanding of the provisions of the African Union Post-Conflict Reconstruction and Development Policy Framework (2006)
  6. Exploration of Breaking cycles of violence and healing centred approaches in post conflict settings
  7. Ideas on how to incorporate gender in their post-conflict peacebuilding using the United Nations Resolution Council 1325 

Charges

Option 1: US $800: This is for participants who will opt to attend the training in person in Nairobi. The amount covers tuition, conference charges and a Certificate of Completion. It does not cover accommodation

Option 2: US $ 1300. This amount covers the conference package, tuition, training materials and a Certificate of Completion. It also covers accommodation and dinner charges from the evening of  3rd December to breakfast on 8th December)

Option 3:  US$ 400: This is for those who will opt for the online Zoom option. It covers online tuition, resource materials and a Certificate of Completion.

All participants requiring airport pick up and drop off in Nairobi will be offered the service at no charge.
