Training of Trainers in Peacebuilding Programming for Conflict & Post Conflict Settings in Africa; 7th to 11th December 2026, Nairobi-Kenya & Online

This training will cover the following session:

This training is designed for Peacebuilding, Conflict Transformation, Development, Humanitarian, and related practitioners working in conflict and post conflict settings in Africa and in particular in the Great Lakes, the Horn and East Africa Regions.

The Training Content

Deepening Understanding of Conflict and Post-Conflict Contexts

This session will delve into the dynamics, drivers, and complexities of conflict and post-conflict environments in the Great Lakes, the Horn and East Africa regions. Further focus will be on examining key political, social, economic, and security issues in these regions.

 Exploring Conflict Analysis

This session will introduce participants to a range of conflict analysis tools and frameworks that can be used to develop a deeper understanding of conflict dynamics and the contexts in which peacebuilding interventions are implemented.

Strengthening Peacebuilding Programming Skills

This session will focus on the development of practical skills to design, implement, adapt, and support effective, context-sensitive, and sustainable peacebuilding programmes that respond to the realities and priorities of communities affected by conflict.

Designing an Effective Training Content

This session will entail building practical skills in the development of training needs assessment, curriculum design, learning methodologies and session planning to create relevant and engaging training programmes.

Developing Effective Training and Learning Objectives

This session will cover the process of formulating clear, realistic, measurable, and participant-centred learning objectives that guide training design, delivery, assessment, and learning outcomes.

Facilitation Skills: The Art and Practice of Facilitation

This session will  focus on developing the knowledge, confidence, attitudes, and practical skills required for effective facilitation, including managing group dynamics, encouraging participation, asking effective questions, handling challenging situations, creating inclusive learning spaces, and facilitating both face-to-face and online sessions

Evaluating Trainings

This session will cover the different ways of evaluating a training programme including the use of such tools as the 5 Criteria of Effectiveness, Bloom’s Taxonomy of Learning, Training and Learning Objectives and Theory of Change
